Kastamonu University is hosting the Turkish Summer School Program, organized annually by the Yunus Emre Institute, this year as well.
Under the coordination of the Yunus Emre Institute, Kastamonu University is hosting 15 international participants as part of the program, which runs from July 6-31, 2026. Participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Tunisia, Mexico, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Syria, and Georgia are attending the education program, coordinated by the Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) at our university.
The program's opening ceremony was held on July 6, 2026, in our University's Senate Hall. The ceremony was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı, TÖMER Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Onur Hasdedeoğlu, TÖMER Deputy Director Instructor N. Demet Demirel, Health, Culture, and Sports Department Head Mehmet Sena Aygül, Student Affairs Department Head Aydın Caymaz, and Yunus Emre Institute Representative and Program Coordinator Tarık Kaya.
As part of the Turkish Summer School Program, approximately 240 participants are receiving education at 14 universities in 13 cities across Türkiye this year. Participants have the opportunity to learn about the Turkish language and culture through intensive language instruction, cultural trips, traditional art workshops, and various social activities.
Before the opening ceremony, the participants introduced themselves and shared brief information about their countries. Expressing their satisfaction with the Turkish Summer School Program, the participants shared their goals for learning Turkish and their interest in Türkiye.
Sharing the excitement of both improving their Turkish language skills and having the opportunity to get to know Turkish culture more closely during the program, the participants thanked the Yunus Emre Institute and our University.
Making the opening speech of the program, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Selahattin Kaymakcı stated that the Turkish Summer School Program was held for the first time at our University in cooperation with the Yunus Emre Institute last year, and that the experiences gained contributed to the planning of this year's organization. He stated that a more planned and comprehensive program was prepared this year in line with the experience gained.
Emphasizing the significant role of hospitality in Turkish culture, Prof. Dr. Kaymakcı stated that all necessary preparations had been completed to ensure that participants would encounter no problems during the program.
Stating that participants will be supported not only through academic activities but also through cultural events and trips during the one-month training period, Prof. Dr. Kaymakcı said that this will give participants the opportunity to get to know Turkish culture closely while learning Turkish.
At the end of his speech, wishing the participants a productive educational period, Prof. Dr. Kaymakcı expressed his hope that the friendships formed during the program would continue even after the educational process. He expressed his pleasure in hosting the participants at our University and concluded his speech with best wishes.
The program concluded with a commemorative photo taken in memory of the day.
