The 10th study of the Kastamonu Reports series, prepared by Kastamonu University, has been published. In the report titled "Türkiye's Local Development Initiative and Incentive Policies: An Integrated Development Analysis Based on the Example of Kastamonu," prepared by Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Yerlikaya, a faculty member of our university's Faculty of Education, and Prof. Dr. Serkan Dilek, a faculty member of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Türkiye's local development and incentive policies were examined specifically in the context of Kastamonu.
In the report, incentive and support mechanisms that promote local development in Türkiye were examined, particularly through the Local Development Program Incentive System of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. While evaluating the scope of public support and its role in local development, the economic potential, priority sectors, and sustainable development opportunities of Kastamonu were examined.
In addition to the demographic and economic indicators, geographical features, and natural resources of Kastamonu, the report also evaluated the structural problems and risk areas affecting the province's development process. The contribution of incentives to the local economy was discussed through the sectoral distribution of development supports, successful project examples, and the problems encountered in the implementation processes.
The study also evaluated the qualified and development-oriented aspects, opportunities, and potential threats of Kastamonu through a SWOT analysis. In line with these evaluations, policy recommendations were presented to ensure the more effective use of the province's existing resources, the development of sectoral diversity, and the enhancement of local development capacity.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, emphasized the importance of aligning the scientific knowledge produced in universities with local needs, stating that evaluating Kastamonu's economic potential, priority sectors, and development opportunities in line with scientific studies would contribute to the province's development goals.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, thanked Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Yerlikaya and Prof. Dr. Serkan Dilek for their efforts in preparing the report and wished that the work would be beneficial for Kastamonu.
