The project titled "Investigation of Radiation Attenuation Properties of Halogen-Doped Lead-Free Cs₂AgBiBr₆-xIₓ Double Perovskite Structures," led by academic staff member Lect. Dr. Şeydanur Kaya at the Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center of Kastamonu University has been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 3501 – Career Development Program.
Within the scope of the project, the structural, morphological, and optical properties of environmentally friendly, lead-free double perovskite materials developed with different halogen additives will be examined, and the materials' radiation attenuation performance will be comprehensively evaluated. The study aims to explore the potential of next-generation perovskite structures with low toxicity for radiation protection applications.
In the research to be conducted on radiation protective materials needed across many fields, primarily health, nuclear technology, the defense industry, and space applications, the properties of the developed eco-friendly perovskite structures, which could serve as alternatives to traditional radiation shielding materials, will be examined. The results are expected to contribute to the development of sustainable, high-performance radiation protection technologies.
In the project to be conducted under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Şeydanur Kaya, Prof. Dr. Aslı Kurnaz, a faculty member of the Department of Physics at our University's Faculty of Science, will serve as an advisor. Additionally, the project team includes Researcher Dr. İlker Yıldız, an academic staff member at the Central Laboratory of Middle East Technical University, and Researcher Dr. Caner İldeş, an academic staff member at the Central Laboratory of Yozgat Bozok University.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, in his evaluation of the project, stated that national-level support for the scientific studies conducted at our University is valuable for the development of the research ecosystem. Our rector stated that research projects conducted in collaboration with different institutions contribute to the production of scientific knowledge.
Our Rector also congratulated the project coordinator, Lect. Dr. Şeydanur Kaya, the advisor Prof. Dr. Aslı Kurnaz, and the researchers in the project team for the project that qualified for support under the TÜBİTAK 3501 – Career Development Program, expressed their wishes for the successful completion of the work.
