Kastamonu University ranked among the top 10 universities in Türkiye's Patent Report 2025 in four different categories.
The results of the "Türkiye's Patent Report 2025," prepared by Patent Effect and evaluating the technology and innovation performance of universities in Türkiye, have been announced. The report included rankings based on the number of patent applications by universities in different technology fields.
According to published data, our University ranked highly across multiple categories in the "Patent Champion Companies and Universities by Technology Segments" ranking, particularly in its patent applications. Our university ranked among the top 10 in Türkiye in four different technology fields.
Our university, which has gained significant momentum in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing technologies), is highlighted as a technology of the future and has filed 6 patent applications, ranking 4th in Türkiye in this field, following Yıldız Technical University, Ankara University, and Süleyman Demirel University.
Our university, which filed 19 patent applications in the field of Agricultural Technologies, ranked 5th in Türkiye, surpassing many established higher education institutions on the same list. With this result, our university's number of applications in agriculture and production-oriented technologies has become one of the noteworthy highlights.
Our university, with 4 patent applications in the Autonomous Technologies category, ranked 6th in Türkiye in this field. In the field of Artificial Intelligence, which has recently emerged as a prominent area of study, our university, with 13 patent applications, ranked 9th among the top 10 universities.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, in his evaluation of the achieved success, stated that we attach importance to the registration and protection of scientific knowledge within the framework of our University's vision for patent studies. He stated that these applications lay the groundwork for value-added technologies in the future.
Stating that being among the top four universities in Türkiye in a field requiring advanced technology like additive manufacturing is the result of planned and qualified effort, our Rector expressed their determination to continue developing research infrastructure and supporting researchers.
Our Rector also stated that the support provided by institutions such as the Ministry of Industry and Technology, YÖK, TÜBİTAK, and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office played a significant role in the innovation processes, and expressed his gratitude to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın, and Turkish Patent and Trademark Office President Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zeki Durak for their contributions.
