Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program, Kastamonu University continues to offer its students and academic/administrative staff broad opportunities in education, youth, and sports. The activities carried out through the Erasmus+ Coordination Office under the Directorate of International Relations contribute significantly to the University’s vision and mission of internationalization.
Growing International Partnerships
Kastamonu University has signed bilateral agreements with 116 universities across 30 countries, providing students with diverse academic and cultural experiences. Within the scope of the 2025-KA131 project, the University secured a grant of €388,210. This budget will fund 157 mobilities, including 60 student study mobilities, 32 student internship mobilities, 34 staff teaching assignments, and 31 staff training activities. Compared to 2024, the grant amount increased by €105,430, ranking Kastamonu University 40th among 268 applicant universities/institutions in terms of grant allocation.
Regarding staff mobility, Kastamonu University ranked first in Türkiye with 65 mobilities. Under the 2025-KA171 project, partnerships with universities from 12 countries—including the United States, Nepal, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Palestine, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Nigeria—were approved, resulting in an additional grant of €87,448.
Application Requirements
Applications for the program are accepted at the end of the fall semester. Applicants must meet a minimum GPA requirement and achieve at least 55 points in the foreign language exam held annually from March to April. A minimum GPA of 2.20 is required at the undergraduate level, and 2.50 at the master’s and doctoral levels.
Participation Increases Every Year
In the 2024/2025 academic year, 57 students were sent abroad under Erasmus+ to pursue studies or internships at various European institutions, while seven international students studied at Kastamonu University for one semester. Poland, Italy, and Portugal were the most preferred destinations by students.
For the 2025/2026 academic year, 42 students will study abroad in the fall semester and 13 in the spring semester through Erasmus+. Regarding staff mobility, 32 international academic staff visited our University during the 2024/2025 academic year, while 97 of our educational and administrative staff worked at universities abroad.

The Erasmus+ Coordination Office of Kastamonu University continues its efforts with determination to ensure that students and staff benefit from the program at the highest level, to foster sustainable partnerships with European institutions, and to enhance the University’s international visibility.
