Kastamonu University organized a nature trip on June 14, 2025, as part of its social and cultural activities for academic and administrative staff. Approximately 120 academic and administrative staff members and their relatives participated in the event, which was held in the districts of Pınarbaşı and Azdavay. The trip was organized by the Personnel Department of our University, and the Pınarbaşı and Azdavay Municipalities also supported the program.
The first stop of the program was Horma Canyon, one of the prominent natural beauties of Kastamonu. Offering visitors a safe route with its unique wooden walking platforms, participants in the canyon enjoyed a pleasant walk among the region's steep slopes and rich flora. The natural structure of the canyon was closely observed thanks to the approximately 3-kilometer trail along the Zarı Stream.
Following the walk, the group's path led to Ilıca Waterfall. The participants got the chance to take a brief pause, look about, and relax at Ilıca Waterfall, which is a popular destination for tourists looking to cool off in the summer and spend time alone with nature. Among the trip's noteworthy stops were the area's natural water sources and the area around the waterfall.
The Çatak Canyon Glass Observation Terrace was the third destination on the tour. The participants observed the view of the valley from a height of almost 450 meters at this location, which is among the highest glass viewing terraces in Turkey. The attendees gained knowledge about the region's geographical characteristics while taking in the surroundings from the observation platform.
The Azdavay Equestrian Tourism Center was the program's final stop. In addition to having the chance to relax in a natural setting, the participants were informed about the center's walking trails, picnic spaces, and horseback riding opportunities near the pond.
Our employees were able to spend time together away from the office and learn about Kastamonu's natural beauty thanks to the daylong excursion. Participants said at the event's conclusion that these kinds of organizations foster a sense of camaraderie among university staff members and help them become well-versed on the province's tourist potential.
