The University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report – 2025, prepared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), has been published. According to the indicators in the report, Kastamonu University ranked among the top 20 universities nationwide in Türkiye across 12 different fields.
In the report, where universities' performance is evaluated under the headings of education and teaching, research and development, internationalization, sustainability, and community service and social responsibility, our university ranked in the top 20 in 12 indicators. With these results, our university is ranked among the prominent universities both nationally and regionally, and is positioned as the university with the most indicators in the top 20 among regional universities.
The report also detailed the indicators and rankings in which our university excelled. Accordingly, our University ranked 12th with 94 industrial/sectoral projects conducted by students and 11th with 604 students participating in Technopark/TTO projects.
In the indicator for the number of awards received in competitions such as TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK, and TÜBA, it ranked 10th with 16 awards. In the number of national and international projects and support provided by TÜBİTAK, it ranked 7th with 465 supports. Our university, ranked 9th with 59 national R&D projects conducted in collaboration with industry, also ranked 7th with 31 faculty members who have participated in international exchange programs.
The report also ranked our university 18th with 14 awards in the international awards indicator, 16th with 68 social responsibility projects carried out by the university, and 10th with 319 social responsibility projects carried out by students. Kastamonu University, which ranked 3rd nationwide with 44 awards within the scope of the Barrier-Free University Awards, was listed in the report as 17th, with 107 activities organized for disadvantaged groups, and 13th, with 197 accessibility inventories.
Our university continues to make a positive contribution to society through its Social Responsibility Projects
In the 2025 University Monitoring and Evaluation Report published by YÖK, our university also stood out for its work in the fields of community service and social responsibility. In the report, our university ranked 10th in Türkiye, with 319 projects in the indicator of social responsibility projects carried out by students, and 16th, with 68 projects, in the indicator of social responsibility projects carried out by the university.
Our university, which also ranks highly in the field of social inclusion and accessibility, placed third in Türkiye, receiving 44 awards in the Barrier-Free University Awards indicator. Our university also reflected its work in this area in the report, ranking among the top 20 universities in terms of the number of activities organized for disadvantaged groups and the number of accessibility inventory indicators.
Our University Contributes to Scientific Development with R&D Projects
With its pioneering work in the field of Research and Development (R&D), which prioritizes industry-university collaboration, our university was among the prominent universities in YÖK's 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation Report. In the report, our university ranked 9th in Türkiye with 59 national R&D projects jointly conducted with industry.
Our university's performance was also noteworthy in indicators reflecting practical production and project culture within the education and teaching framework. Our university, which ranks 12th in the number of industrial/sectoral projects carried out by students (94) and 11th in the number of students participating in Technopark or Technology Transfer Office (TTO) projects (604), has demonstrated through report data that the project-based learning approach is being sustained.
The Project Ecosystem is Developing with TÜBİTAK Support
Our university stood out in YÖK's 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation Report due to the results it achieved in the indicator of the number of national and international projects and support (BİDEB grants) provided by TÜBİTAK. Our university ranked 7th nationwide with 465 supports in the indicator in question.
The data in the report revealed that project culture has become widespread within our university in recent years, and that there has been a steady increase in the number of project applications and support in parallel with this.
Work on Sustainability Continues
Our university stood out in the results it achieved in the indicators listed under the heading of environmental sustainability in the YÖK's 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation Report. According to the report, our university, which won 22 awards in the areas of Zero Waste, Green Campus, and Environmentalism, was among the universities included in the report.
Our university demonstrated its environmentally friendly practices through report data, highlighting its green space ratio (76.5%) and smoke-free airspace ratio (97.8%). Additionally, the per capita electricity consumption (194.9 kWh), water consumption (2.82 m³), and direct carbon footprint (107.3 kg CO₂) values indicate that efforts toward sustainable resource utilization are ongoing.
Our university ranked above average in several areas according to the YÖK 2025 Report
Our university achieved values above the Turkish average in many areas, in addition to ranking in the top 20 in several indicators, as reported in YÖK's 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation Report. The report highlighted indicators such as the graduation rate in the alumni tracking system (100%), the number of student clubs (102), the number of students enrolled in clubs (18,968), the number of students participating in competitions (194), and the number of participating teams (50).
Indicators of research and publication performance were also included in the report. Data such as the number of publications per faculty member in TR Dizin, the proportion of publications co-authored with international collaboration, the Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI), the proportion of cited publications, and the open-access rate revealed the research visibility of our University.
Internationalization efforts are among the priority goals included in our University's strategic plan. In this regard, being ranked among the top 20 in Türkiye in the indicator of the number of faculty members involved in international collaborations, academic mobility, and exchange programs demonstrates that our university continues to engage in international academic interactions.
Evaluation from our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal
In his evaluation of the YÖK 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation Report, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hamdi Topal, expressed his gratitude to our students, faculty, and administrative staff for their contributions to the results in 12 areas where our university ranked among the top 20 nationwide.
Our Rector stated that our university has made progress in some areas and achieved values above the national average in many indicators. However, he also emphasized that more work is needed in certain areas. Stating that the data in the report reflects the current state of our University, our Rector noted that the work carried out in the fields of education and training, research and development, community service, and internationalization will continue in line with the indicators in the report
